Lab Manager - Full-Time

Summary
The Lab Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring production goals, compliance standards, and quality metrics are consistently achieved. This role directly manages lab staff, oversees workflow execution, and collaborates with the Lab Director to implement strategic initiatives. The Lab Manager acts as the frontline leader of the lab, ensuring staff are trained, processes are followed, and data is accurately captured in Bloom, METRC, Canix and other systems.

$65,000 - $69,000 per year

Position: Lab Manager

Reports to: Lab Director 

Required Experience: 2+ years’ experience in a regulated cannabis industry is preferred 

Required Education: High School Diploma and or/equivalent experience

Job Duties:  

  • Supervise and direct lab staff in daily operations including extraction, formulation, refinement, and packaging. 

  • Assign and monitor daily tasks, ensuring accountability and adherence to SOPs. 

  • Collaborate with the Lab Director to prioritize workflow, resolve operational issues, and plan production schedules. 

  • Ensure all compliance documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in accordance with state regulations (METRC, batch/lot tracking, QC testing, etc.). 

  • Conduct regular checks to verify lab cleanliness, safety, and adherence to company and regulatory standards. 

  • Train, onboard, and develop new lab staff, while reinforcing best practices and continuous improvement for the team. 

  • Maintain lab inventory (materials, solvents, equipment needs) and communicate reorders or shortages to the Supply Chain Director. 

  • Track daily/weekly production metrics and report performance data via Bloom. 

  • Collaborate with the Lab Director on process improvement, yield optimization, and equipment utilization. 

  • Support a culture of safety, compliance, and accountability in the lab environment. 

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age with no violent crime or controlled substance felonies and able to pass additional background screening. 

  • Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a production team preferred. 

  • Strong knowledge of extraction, refinement, and cannabis manufacturing processes. 

  • Familiarity with METRC and other compliance/production management systems. 

  • Strong communication and leadership skills; able to give direction, feedback, and coaching. 

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy. 

  • Ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. 

  • Communicates effectively and efficiently 

  • Ability to adapt to a changing industry and an expanding organization, and is open to new ideas and change 

  • Mental clarity and ability to focus
